Hitachi Design Centre Europe has recently presented to public Dokodemo, an innovative interactive display that reacts to gesture movements just as seen in Minority Report.
Dokodemo was presented among other advanced projects developed by Hitachi's Design Centre during an event called Experience the Next that saw the participation of Francesco Morace, president of Future Concept Lab and Peter Hohmann, design manager of HDCE.

During the event the public had the chance to experience the gestual navigation of Dokodemo interactive display and were also able to upload and download pictures taken during the event via the Bluetooth enhanced display. The system was presented in two formats: the vertical version featuring ultrasound sensors and the horizontal advanced version equipped with digital video cameras and infrared LEDs.

dbg.jpg| Electrolux Design Lab 2005

For the third straight year, Electrolux invites students from around the world compete to design household appliances for the future. This year, Electrolux Design Laboratory is looking for solutions for the home of 2020.
The jury will judge entries based on design and innovation in terms of both functional and technological aspects, but with focus on solving real problems in everyday life.
The 12 finalists will participate in a six-day design event in Stockholm, including workshops, model building and a competition for cash-awards, appliances and more. The winner will be announced during Future Design Days in Stockholm, November 14, 2005.

From october 2005 the renown Interaction Institute of Ivrea will move to Milan to the headquarters of Domus Academy.
The centre that promotes the production and diffusion of knowledge in interaction design, through its one year Masters Programme and through the creation of innovation projects both independent and in partnership with Italian and foreign companies is getting together with the famous Domus Academy creating a new Master Course which will sum up the best of the experiences of both institutions. By merging the cultures of interaction design and project culture of both schools they aim to create a strong international centre of excellence.

July 15, 2005 _lighting

System X is the latest invention of Ross Lovegrove for the japanese company Yamagiwa. The company is one of the biggest distributors of italian design in Japan and an important player as manufacturer of lighting fixtures.
System X is a modular light that has infinite expanding possibilities, in fact, the pieces can be connected in two directions thanks to its rubber joints creating a big grill, a line, different sized circles and of course it can be used separated.
Each element utilizes two T4 21W fluorescents with optional dimmer.

MultiPot is a light fixture conceived for providing storage and power to all those devices that we own: ipod, mobile phones and digital cameras can be plugged in to one of the five power sockets available. Inside the MultiPot there is enough space for the cables.
Designed by Dante Donegani and Giovanni Lauda for the italian company Rotaliana.

Born in Swizterland in 1967, after the studies in Industrial Design at Art Center College of Vevey moves to California where he finishes the studies at Art Center College of Design of Pasadena.
After several years working at Lunar and Frog Design he decides to open his own office: Fuseproject
Since then he has developed projects for Toshiba, Mini, Birkenstock, HP, Aliph, Swarovski among others.
In the images gardening clogs for Birkies, shoe and watch, part of a collection of products and apparel designed for Mini and Jabone wireless headset for Aliph.

Oficina Nomade is a project aimed at rediscovering the genuine value of the amazon culture created by argentinian designer Christian Ullmann and brasilian Tania de Paula. The bases of the project are sustainable production and design, contributing to educate artisans and develop local economies.
Oficina Nomade works with several designers, artisans and communities manufacturing semi-handicrafted products that exploit the amazon creativity, local know how and genuine brazilian materials such as wood, natural fiber, bambu, seeds of local trees and palms, coconut, natural latex, handicraft paper, fish skin and ceramics.

The collection has been exhibited in several shows including Macef 2002 in Milan and has received several prizes. In the photos Taui stool design Sergio Fahrer e Christian Ullmann ;Jarina Lamp design Tania de Paula e Christian Ullmann e Curadoria Amazonia Design exhibition.

The third edition of the german trade show dedicated to wew materials for design and architecture, material_vision 05 will take place next November 10th and 11th at Messe Frankfurt.
For the first time this year, Messe Frankfurt GmbH and the German Design Council are holding the Design Plus competition for outstanding and highly innovative design on the occasion of Material Vision 2005.
